Pfhorge 0.95

Cathunter on 08/13/2007

Pfhorge is an OSX map making utility, as yet uncompleted but usable. There are still bugs with terminal editting and map compilation while the texturing can't be carried out in the visual interface.

I've included a manual that assumes you are already familiar with Forge.

Victory Dance III 1.0

RyokoTK on 06/02/2007

Screenshot titled ""

This is the resulting netpack of the third Netmap-making contest. The top seven mappers out of a total group of nine made it into this pack, which I can easily say is the best Victory Dance pack so far.

The winners include screamingfool, Treellama, and irons, though the pack has 7 maps from 7 different mappers in all.

Kill Them All! 1.02

RyokoTK on 06/02/2007

Screenshot titled ""

Kill Them All is a short but intense mini-scenario for Marathon Infinity. It is a collaborative project, wherein the goal for each mapper was to make complete, high-quality maps that had no more than 100 polygons.

KTA features 15 levels by myself, screamingfool, Kinetic Turtle, irons, and Shadowbreaker. It's a difficult but action-packed game -- very fun.

Tired of seeing the same 4 landscapes over and over when playing marathon 2? Why not give each level its own unique landscape?

Just put this into your Marathon 2 Plugins folder. You'll never know how you lived without it.

Screenshot titled "Solo"

This is the classic Marathon 1 HUD, but modified to take the edge off just a little bit by extending it to fill modern 16:9 displays. For best results use 'Largest' HUD size in options.

With the extra space, an additional inventory page is displayed. In solo games, the extra page shows Ammunition at all times. In netgames, the extra page shows the Scoreboard at all times.

Based on the Classic M1 HUD plugin posted here by Hopper.

Wide Marathon 2 & Marathon Infinity HUD here.

Notes for version 1.1:

1.1 - Add extra inventory page to fill extra space (Ammo in solo, scoreboard in netgame)

In this new NEFX scenario shell for Marathon Aleph One, travel around a corn maze to get to the exit without a map. If you try to use a map, you'll die, because that's cheating. So really use your navigational skills, prowess, memory, etc. You'll become a better person if you persevere through this.

Notes for version 2023-10-29:

Today I added one new map for Marathon: Corn Maze, "The Weight of Cumulative Collective Memory". This can be downloaded individually or with the scenario itself at the provided link.

[Credit to Windbreaker for the title.] "Until they've searched thoroughly, one can never be clean." In this scenario, you get to spend a bunch of time cleaning up a space of its filth balls with your trusty Yucatan Suckaman™ vacuum cleaner. But watch where you step, and be sure to empty the bag often so the vacuum cleaner doesn't explode!

Notes for version 2023-10-12:

Today I added the 50th map made for Marathon: Sucks, "The Fracturing of the Husked Civilization Stations". This can be downloaded individually or with other maps or the scenario itself at the provided link.

Pepper HUD 1.0

W'rkncacnter on 08/05/2023

Screenshot titled "Peppers"

This is a slightly modified version of the Default HUD created by Hopper: https://simplici7y.com/items/m2-default-hud/

This is meant for people that want the HUD to be small, but not obscure parts of the game world. If you are bothered by the black bar this usually leaves, it can be filled in with artwork. I've included several options for artwork in the resources/extra_images folder. Or you can create your own.

To size the HUD, you can use the typical HUD sizes in the options. However, they will all be smaller than the default HUD, as one of the goals of this plugin is to maximize the game world view.

The normal HUD also typically leaves black bars on the sides depending on your resolution and settings, and this HUD attempts to eliminate that from happening.

Notes for version 1.0:

If you downloaded a PepperHUD that was floating around from a long time ago, you should get this new version.

NEFX - Marathon: Pathsifter - The Facing of the Legion Within -- newest map addition 2023-07-25

Adminn_1 on 07/26/2023

Screenshot titled "Seeing Pathways enemies from above as well as across?! It's easier to see when you're DEAD!"

In this NEFX shell based on Pathways Into Darkness, you've probed too deeply into matters unknown and found yourself in the forbidden zone, at the mercy of a once-dormant deity ordering your retrieval of diamonds to escape.

Notes for version -- newest map addition 2023-07-25:

I added a separate Pathsifter map called "The Abrasion at the Horizon Boundary". You can get this map and others along with the scenario folder itself at the provided link.

A very simple MML script which helps me greatly with some of the in-game flashes which are too bright. Feel free to edit to suit your needs.

Notes for version 0.1:

Made this for Scraniel, but might help others. Just makes some of the flashes less bright. It should be copied into the Scripts directory of Aleph One, and as of AO v1.6, does not need to be enabled in preferences. It should work with most 3rd-party scenarios, depending on what those creators have modified.

Screenshot titled "The stairs are the least of your worries."

Over the course of 2021/2022, multiple people in the marathonruns.net discord worked on a project that had the goal of making maps that intentionally went against the conventional style of mapmaking normally associated with Marathon. Instead, what you are about download is an incubator anthology of maps that promoted thinking outside the box not only for the mapmakers in making their respective maps, but also for the players themselves tackling them.

We're gonna be completely honest with you, this is definitely not easy. You will more than likely spend countless attempts on some, if not all maps. With this said, be creative and you may find alternative solutions to what may seem like the intended solution. If you are truly stuck on a level and need the minuscule life preserver of help, you can ask in the #get-a-clue channel in the official hellpak discord (link in the readme) and we can provide a somewhat hint at what to do.

In addition to perusing the fine selection of experimental gameplay in this beautiful space station of a map pack, why not also take 2 seconds of your day to switch over to the full original soundtrack, which features 10 tracks not part of the map pack itself. Similar to hellpak the map pack, hellpak the OST also follows the same experimental and avant-garde principles.

Basic HUD 1.0.1

treellama on 01/14/2023

Screenshot titled ""

This is a basic fullscreen HUD for any scenario that uses the default Marathon 2 or Infinity HUD, and doesn't come with its own HUD. It attempts to make as few assumptions as possible, which allows it to work on a wide variety of scenarios, but is a little ugly. See the screenshots for details.

Software mode works but is even uglier due to the inability to circle clip the motion sensor.

The only supported HUD size in this version is Normal.

Based on the Default HUD script by Hopper.

To install, create a Plugins directory next to the Scripts directory in the scenario you want to add it to, and copy this zip file to the Plugins directory.

An entire soundtracked 50-level pack by NEFX for the 1998 Marathon-engine-based game Wheels! by RJ Cooper. Much thanks to the original Wheels! creators and to W'rkncacnter/Douchetower for help with the bundling. To play:

  1. Copy the Wheels! files into the directory.

  2. Open the graphics/shapes file in ShapeFusion and apply the contained shapes patch to it.

  3. Put Aleph One in the directory and launch it.

  4. Stop.

  5. Bend.

  6. Lean.

Screenshot titled "Before #2"

Rubicon X was released a long time ago, when Aleph One didn’t have bloom and when its monster activation limits were, by default, much higher than they are now. It hasn’t been updated since, so running it out of the box with no changes has several problems: monsters will randomly deactivate on several levels, and the bloom looks horrible because it defaults to overpoweringly high levels. I’ve created this plugin as an “all-in-one” fix for both these issues. It restores the monster activation limits to their intended values, and it makes the game look decent with bloom.

To run this, just put it in your Rubicon X plugins folder. (If you don’t have one, make a new “Plugins” folder in the “Rubicon X” folder – NOT the “Rubicon Data” folder – and stick this in it.) If you currently have Rubicon X running, you’ll need to quit the app and reload it.

Marathon 1984 is a custom 3 map scenario for Marathon Infinity, created in 1997 by Frank 'Elk' Rooke and distributed in the MacAddict issue No. 13 cover CD.

This file contains the Marathon 1984 map file and a patched shapes file in MacBinary II format, compatible with Aleph One, as well as the original installer for classic MacOS also in MacBinary II format.

Contents of the Marathon 1984 original readme file:

Marathon-1984 Scenario

1984 consists of three levels to be played as solo maps only and using Marathon Infinity.

Screenshot titled "Before this MML"

This is a fixed version of the file here: http://simplici7y.com/items/marathon-red-addenda

To install, simply drop the .mml file into the Scripts folder in the RED scenario folder.

The idea behind this MML is to restore some of RED's appearance which was not preserved in the old Aleph One port, which as of this writing was last modified in 2011. Note that if you're playing a newer RED port then this file may not be necessary.

I make no guarantees that this does correctly restore aspects of RED, as I have not played the original scenario files. This is merely a correction of syntax errors in the MML file. I have also removed the fog that was added in that MML as it was not a part of RED originally.

Notes for version 3:

The MML file will actually load in Aleph One now.
