Lua gametype where the faster you're moving when killing someone, the more points you are awarded.
For example, if you kill someone while standing completely still, you get one point. If kill someone while running, you get more points. If you kill someone while running and falling, you get significantly more points. If you launch yourself with a rocket and kill someone while flying through the air, you get even more points.
I've made quite a few scripts for Alpha One over the years and I figured I'd write a guide to help others.
This guide contains all of my secrets for building awesome lua scripts. With it, you too will be able to write beautiful code.
Take it from me, I'm a xpert LUA engineer.
Part 1
Turn marathon into a turn based strategy game with this lua script.
When hosting, just pick one of the standard gametypes like normal and enable this script. It is not a netscript gametype.
This existed once a long time ago, but I must have loched and deleted it or something.
Marathon olympics is heavily inspired by a map KawaiiPet hosted in 2005.
This is my attempt to re-create that awesome experience.
It is a multiplayer map that should be hosted untimed with the netscript gametype. It has embedded lua.
I'd like to add more events to this map eventually, when I get around to it.
A netmap made by JUICEMAN in 2007. It has 1x cans instead of 3x cans now.
Sick of mappers that carefully select textures to go with their useless maps? Tired of playing boring old maps that look the same every time you play?
Now there's a Lua script to randomly generate new textures each time you play!
It may even be slightly less terrible than you're thinking.
I came up with the concept for this and created this map a while ago. I thought I'd finally release it to the world so other people can enjoy it.
Two netscripts meant to be used with the King of the Hill gametype. They will cause the hill to move around periodically. The compass points to the hill, and the lighting on the floor of the hill will flash.
Jumping Hills will work with any map enabled for KOTH, while Base Jumping Hills requires maps set up in a specific way. The readme has more details.
ten thousand netmaps
An alephone plugin that can be used to help you determine if your map has enough differential shading. It will turn all of the floors, ceilings, and walls solid green. If you do not have enough differential shading, it will be difficult or impossible to look around and see the architecture of your map.
If after turning this plugin on, you can navigate your level easily and see all of the architecture, your map has adequate differential shading.
You will likely need to disable other texture plugins and any others that run lua like visual mode when using this plugin.
Wrk Maps is a net pack for infinity consisting of levels from Infinity, M2, and others that have been modified, usually for better flow, or to look prettier. Along with Infinity and M2, maps are based on other maps by windbreaker, RyokoTK, Treellama, irons, and $lave.
There may even be a new unreleased map somewhere in here by someone other than me.
A set of Weland plugins.
NOTE: If these aren't showing up in your list of plugins, you may have to compile them yourself.
Includes a plugin for: * Completely texturing levels from scratch * Generating stairs * Resizing maps * Bulk modifying monster flags for a level. * Adding annotations to maps with random complaints from DADDY_Z3RO * A re-release of VISUAL MODE so all of my plugins are together.
The source code is available for all of the plugins.
Added "Alter Monster Falgs" plugin.
This is a set of 2304 Mararthon: Yuge style single player maps. There is pretty much no plot on any of these maps, it purely exists for killing monsters.
If you are unfamiliar with Mararthon: Yuge, it can be downloaded at http://simplici7y.com/items/mararthon-yuge.
The maps can all be played with the Mararthon: Yuge scenario (recommended) or Marathon Infinity.
Version 1.3: * Fixed terminals to make it work with newer versions of AlephOne.
Version 1.2:
Mararthon: Yuge is a 30 level scenario, plus 225 secret levels for many extra hours of gameplay.
Yuge is a community project that was created in 2017 with procedural level generation using rooms that were mapped by hand. Mappers contributed rooms of various design and size, which were then fed into the level generator, which created the overall level layouts, texturing, monster placements, items, and sounds. Therefore, you will see some of the same rooms multiple times while playing through the scenario, but each will likely have a different set of monsters in slightly different locations, different textures, and you will likely have different weapons.
The level generator was created by W'rkncacnter, and 353 unique mapped out areas were contributed by several mappers: Windbreaker, RyokoTK, Sankara, W'rkncacnter, President People, $lave, General Tacticus, Glamdring, and Adminn_1.
Yuge has 2 new weapons, 2 new boss monsters, new wall textures, new scenery objects, maps with precipitation, and a new liquid type. Along with the procedurally generated levels, the final level of the main scenario, "enter the DOUCHE", is a custom map created by Windbreaker.
Like HD textures? Check out the Yuge Definition Textures plugins: http://simplici7y.com/items/yuge-definition-textures.
Keep and eye out for a URL within the secret levels where you can download even more bonus maps.
Version 1.2 (December 2018): fixed terminals to work with newer versions of Aleph One, added fog to several levels in the original campaign, made minor adjustments to several levels in the original campaign.
Version 1.1 (August 2017): made levels work properly with co-op, added amazing icons, fixed an issue with the stats plugin.
Version 1.0 (July 2017): initial release.
On the 2 year anniversary of YugePax, a version specifically designed for Mararthon: Yuge is now available. You can finally bombard your friends and enemies alike with shitsticks.
Translated versions of games in the trilogy are all the rage these days, so I thought I'd make my own version. I painstakingly went through every line of the terminals and translated them to loch. Just select this map file when playing M2, and you're good to go.
The bigliest scenario available now has the bigliest textures imaginable to go with it! If you've ever wanted to experience Mararthon: Yuge with mindblowing 128x128 HD textures, this is your lucky day.
Just when you thought Yuge couldn't look any better, it's now possible to turn on bloom and see limitless glowing peppers, douches, failstaches and more. The choice is yours!
This unbelievable package contains 2 different plugins with varying amounts of bloom, and many different texture masks to put you in control of your Yuge experience. Thanks to Aaron for providing even more masks than before!
These plugins even work with Marathon Infinity, if you ever feel like replaying it with superior textures.
Aaron has made bump maps for the existing masks, and added a bunch of new masks.
Global warming is real, and it's dangerous. This script is the proof.
This is an educational lua script, teaching you about the dangers of global warming due to rising sea levels. The knowledge contained within this interactive training module can be gained in either single player or a netgame, as long as the player(s) are willing to learn.
Your first lesson: resources will become harder to come by, and life will become more challenging. On that note, you will be required to track down Alephone 1.4rc1 in order to complete the rest of the training. This is the first demonstration of how things won't always be so easy, and you'll have to work a little harder to get what you want.
Dumb scripts for making projectiles hitscan (meaning they travel instantaneously).
(Requires Alephone v1.4)
This could have been good, but you used the inferior one.
To any potential mapmakers: Please don't do what Adminn is doing. Learn to map properly.
Every time I see these horrible MPiD shapes, I get upset.
This is easily worth 6 stars just for the first 3 maps. I thought those superior early versions were lost forever.
Unfortunately, there's no way to calculate what this is worth simply with useless stars when you add in the 4th map.
The fireworks map is my favorite.
Who uploads a file at 2:00 AM? You're a FREAK.
7 out of seven on a scale from VII to stop camping.
BEACKPEACK PRAHBLUM?
Visual mode lua is released under the JUICE license, and one of the requirements of the JUICE license is it's not allowed to be hosted on Github. Better get a good lawyer.
It's good though.
A random exe.
I don't see anything in the description that says why you did this. Why don't you make something original?
Why a "5" star rating?
This is especially great when you're not debugging anything.
Best with fusion-only CTF duels.
How does this file only have 6 reviews? This is the best map pack available.
There just aren't enough Savinovs.
I had made a resize map Weland plugin, but now what's the point?
Guys, PLEASE stop abusing the S7 rating system. Any time ANYONE posts something that isn't a real review, Simplici7y's credibility takes a hit. If you want to have a conversation somewhere, take it to the TBCROnline forums where it belongs.
It's better than shitty.
These maps look great and the architecture is impressive. Big Map is too complex though, there is a huge frame rate problem on that one. I can't comment on the flow since I don't actually play anymore, but it certainly seems fine for the rest of the maps. Make more maps!
I agree with M1 Map Dude, this file is awful, and we need better moderation on this site.
It's about time we had something like this. Thanks a lot for your script elitesoldier.
Almost the entire scenario is compatible with the DOUCHEMAPS plugin. 5 stars.
Wow, it truly feels like I'm playing Halo. I didn't know Marathon had enough features to pull this off. Amazing work. I can't wait to see more polished versions.
This script ruins COLORSPEACK.
Very original level, but it was a bit too bright for me.
This is a unbelievably ugly map with terrible flow. Not worth a download.
I'm sure I could list off many other things wrong with this map, but why bother.
Honestly, there's no surprise that RAY LABORATORIES has produced another high quality product. Yet again, ray has come up with exactly what we all wanted, without us even having to ask.
These maps aren't what I was expecting, they are much better.
I hope the version .5 means you know these maps need a LOT of work. Gun balance is the worst I've seen in maps for quite a while. The spawn points are completely broken on a few of these maps. I saw at least one untextured side, and there are no words to describe how bad the KOTH map was.
Do better please.
MapDamager no longer has the monopoly on fun!
Guys, don't post a review if you have a question about how to use the file. These reviews are completely serious and should not be abused.
I agree with W'rkncacnter.
People like ahuxley might say that CLIQUE members will give a rating of 5 to any map made by another CLIQUE member. I'm going to prove that wrong.
I played this map once and have determined that it's one of the best ever made. 5 stars.
These maps are so bad, I can't stop playing.
This is easily one of my least favorite maps. While the design isn't too terrible, the weapon balance and placement is just ridiculous. Shotguns are the only weapons on this map that are worth anything and you can only find them in 3 spots. 2 of them are right next to each other in a huge open area, and the other is hidden away in a corner.
If there are no real good players in the game, it's probably not a problem. But, if there is at least one good player, he will easily be able to camp around the shotgun spawns and one-shot anyone that tries to get near him since it is a very open map and there is a clear line of sight to pretty much every part of the map. The person will never have to leave this location, since there are unlimited shotgun shells here.
Don't host this unless you want the good player in the game to completely dominate everyone else.
$lave is definitely getting better at mapping. All of the maps in this pack are nice looking, and the flow seems pretty good too. I don't actually play online so I can't say for sure how these work in netgames, but it seems like the last 2 maps would be too large. November Rain is probably the weakest map in the pack, just because of the massive open areas. The last one in the pack looks nice, but again, I think games would be too slow on it.
I look forward to seeing more maps by this author.
Not worth a download.
This is the only program around that lets you add shapes patches, so it's automatically better than your face.
