Alien forces have boarded the interstellar colony ship Marathon®. The situation is dire. As a security officer onboard, it is your duty to defend the ship and its crew.
Experience the start of Bungie™’s iconic trilogy with Marathon. This release uses the original Marathon data files for the most authentic experience outside of a classic Mac or emulator.
Replaces the 2d scenery sprites with 3d models in Marathon 1
Note: works best in shader mode.
Make sure bloom is turned off!
Obviously some errors can't be avoided, but I have done my best to smooth over as many bumps as possible.
-Replaced the escape pod model with a much better one
-Changed the pfhor egg to be more like the original (an egg)
M1A1 Fixes is a plugin that makes the scenario a little closer to the original Marathon.
This first version has 3 fixes:
Remove the "Pathways into Darkness" opening
Restore the BoBs' soft-death sequences
Limit the player to a single fist (sadly not the left one)
The "No PiD" plugin is not necessary or compatible with this plugin, so please uninstall or disable it before trying M1A1 Fixes.
Phoenix Falling is a large M1 scenario of 44 levels featuring a new story with new characters, weapons, creatures, sounds, shapes, and more. (48 with secret levels and one network level)
Please keep in mind - there are bugs in this release. Most of these are caused by running the game in the Aleph One engine, which did not yet exist when the scenario was created. This used to be run with the original M1 engine.
Some of the largest known bugs are related to shapes not rendering correctly with chairs, tracer rounds from the brass gun, the weapon display in the HUD interface, and most of the new creature animations.
Repackaged for Simplici7y with permission from the Phoenix Falling creators, Matt & Andrew Schenk.
This version has a fixed Map file that should allow terminals to function in the vacuum levels.
Marathon 1 monster textures at 16x the original resolution using xBR scaling. Includes marine textures and every color palette.
Credits: - General Tacticus, who helped me index M1's original shapes file - Treellama, who helped me use Aorta to remove blue from the textures - Hawkynt, who created the program that could batch upscale 2,602 textures, and - Hyllian, who created the xBR 4x scaling algorithm
Hd Replacements for:
Weapons Projectiles Most Items
Version 1.1 includes: -tweaked weapon size and position -new animations for rocket and grenade detonation -new bullet impact effect -new trooper grenade projectile -fixed color tables for spht bolt
...and probably some other minor fixes that I forgot about.
These Sounds files were third-party replacements for the original M1.
The original files were created by The Legendary Frank. I have converted them to Aleph One format for use with M1A1.
The first one is the latest version. The second was included with the M1 Demo v0.0 on my old Mac Cube. Also included are the original M1 files.
Simply place this folder within your scenario folder or Aleph One directory, select either file in your Environment Preferences, Begin New Game, strap in and brace for impact! Enjoy!
From the manual for the latest version, written by The Legendary Frank:
"Enclosed is a file called HardCoreSounds. It's an alternate sound file for Marathon 1 that, once you change it's name to Sounds and start up Marathon will rip your ears off and give you a week long nose bleed. (Well hopefully not -- I don't need to get sued.) But, sufice to say, this is THE sound file to turn Marathon 1 into non stop extravganza of butchery and carnage the the game is supposed to be. So, turn off the lights, strap on some headphones and then try to stop your knees from knocking as you go 'Damn! That'll hurt bad!'
IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not use if you can't stand cuss words, loud noises, or anything that would offend normal people. These sounds ain't PC or nice. No Cub Scouts or PTA moms.
Any flak, jizz or miscellaneous comments can be sent to: tt1m@flash.net
Enjoy, kiddies,
FRANK"
For the first time in digital quality, you can hear Marathon's music as it first shipped in 1994.
The default M1A1 tracks use QuickTime 2.5, released in 1996, which changed some of the instruments. These files were recorded with QuickTime 2.0, which shipped with Marathon, to capture what it sounded like when Bungie first released the game.
This is the classic Marathon 1 HUD, but modified to take the edge off just a little bit by extending it to fill modern 16:9 displays. For best results use 'Largest' HUD size in options.
With the extra space, an additional inventory page is displayed. In solo games, the extra page shows Ammunition at all times. In netgames, the extra page shows the Scoreboard at all times.
Based on the Classic M1 HUD plugin posted here by Hopper.
Wide Marathon 2 & Marathon Infinity HUD here.
1.1 - Add extra inventory page to fill extra space (Ammo in solo, scoreboard in netgame)
1.0 - Initial release

Arreglo Inicio Personaje Primer Nivel Arrival.
The entire Marathon OST meticulously restored with new instruments and better production value.
Unlike most M1 music replacers, this one does NOT try to heavily alter the original composition nor is it simply a sound font swap. I remixed everything inside of FL Studio 20 with high quality VST instruments and (occasionally) real hardware synths and sounds. My goal was to create a faithful reinterpretation of the OST with mostly appropriate sounds (nothing more modern than 1990's electronic instruments, etc) but with a better overall balance and less cheap sound. I'm extremely proud of the outcome, and I think fans of the original game and its score will really appreciate it too!
This download contains a FLAC and OGG version, to replace the in game music, simply drop the OGG files into the "Music" folder in your Marathon directory.
If Aleph One is ever updated to allow gapless looping of music, I will create a loopable mix.
(if you enjoyed this music, check out fragileforms.bandcamp.com , where I post my original music as MetaMorphosys)
Corrected typographical errors in the tags
My long-overdue remastered Marathon 1 sounds. They should be noticeably less noisy, crisper, and (in some cases) less distorted than the originals - even more so than my remastered Marathon Infinity sounds, since all of the original Marathon 1 sounds were 8-bit.
Includes a readme with a bunch of (hopefully) useful information, but you should be aware of a few caveats before downloading or using these:
These will only work with Aleph One, not the vanilla Marathon app.
These will only work with the classic Marathon files, not M1A1.
If, for some reason, you are still using an Aleph One version prior to 1.3: (a) you really should upgrade to the latest version; (b) if you don’t, you’ll need to quit and reopen Aleph One after selecting these in your preferences.
These are half as loud as the original sounds. You may wish to adjust your music volume.
Should you have any other issues, please let me know via one of the forms of contact included in the readme. Beyond that, enjoy!
First release.
"A 19-level solo masterpiece, with new sounds, shapes, terms, physics, bobs... and it's totally non-linear (you decide what order to do the levels in). Brought to you by the folks who did U.S.S. Raider, Athens Outpost, and the Marathon's Story page."
This scenario has been converted to an Aleph One compatible format and repackaged for Simplici7y.
I have patched tim4i's old m1redux weapons plugin for the official Marathon. This plugin replaces the old weapon sprites with HD variants. Some textures have been refined even further from the original using GIMP to edit them. According to Tim4i, you should not unzip this file but I've found it works regardless. All credit goes to both tim4i & herecomethej2000s as this was their original work, I merely patched the file. The original licence restrictions still apply.
NOTES:
-You need OpenGL to run this pack.
-This plugin is for the official Marathon 1 (not M1A1).
-I did NOT get permission from tim4i to create this patch. He hasn't been online since 2012 and left no means of contact. No copyright infringement intended.
Post any glitches/problems you find here: http://pfhorums.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=39240
-Fixed a transparency/eraser mistake I made with the pistol that I didn't fully fix in the last revision.
-Rounded the tip of the assault rifle to make the barrel appear more realistic.
-Antialiased the fusion gun ever further.
GeoCities may be gone, but the art of the GIF lives on. All multi-frame sequences from the original Marathon Shapes file are included.
By popular demand, the The M1 Map Conversion Project has been rebooted.
Starting now, all further releases of converted M1 maps will be realized as "Netpacks" of ten (10) maps each, and with M1A1 physics merged.
In this Netpack:
The enclosed Read Me contains convenient links to all the current versions of M1A1 (the "Special Edition" release), its hi-res textures, and other assorted items.
"Hats-off" to the old-time Marathoners who started it all.
Enjoy.
