This simple modification to the FloatingX LUA script file adds an ammunition counter to the Alien Weapon using the M1A1 FloatingX HUD. In keeping with the style of the FloatingX HUD, the ammo counter jitters and flickers back and forth to mimic the static effect seen when the Alien Weapon is selected.

To install, download the M1A1 version of the FloatingX HUD plugin, back up the FloatingX.lua script file inside, and replace it with this one.

For those of you with proper video cards that do not have difficulty with precipitation scripts, here is a merged map of the scenario with both precipitation and the latest bugfixes.

Unfortunately, some quirk of a few people's machines - which I suspect were running integrated graphics - couldn't cope with precipitation, even after bugfixes were made, and so Pfhorrest ordered it cut from final release. Although the effect on most levels is subtle due to an A1 limitation on having 1024 objects, I thought it well worth the effort of maintaining. So, before I cut the lua from the main scenario, I created a branch to preserve it, and left the supporting alterations to the Shapes file in the main branch.

Naturally, you'll need to download Eternal 1.2, found here,, to use this map.

Then, download this map file, drop it in your Eternal directory, and select it in Environment preferences.

To test whether your machine can handle this, skip to level 13: A Friend in Need, and see if your framerate drops when you walk outside. My 12 year old rig gets 20 FPS with everything on, but some players have reported as little as 0.5 FPS with precipitation.

Since this is an altered map and not a plugin, it will not be compatible with save games from the official release or the previous 1.2.0 version of this enhanced map.

Co-op players, please ensure that everyone has the same version of the map.

Credits: Original rain and ember sprites by $lave and Windbreaker, respectively; Original precip code by Wrkncacnter, who borrowed heavily from Treelama; Eternal adaptation by Aaron Freed; Snow sprites and code fixes by Lia Gerty; Ashes are a palette swap of embers, fallout a palette swap of rain.

The Spectator.lua script makes any players on yellow team able to passively watch the game without interfering. They wont be visible to the other players and will not be able to block bullets or interfere in anyway. they move using the the turn/look keys(or mouse) and the left and right triggers to move forwards and back. Just remember that all players on yellow team will spectate.

Fixes: Sounds work 5D Space now works far better Spectating players don't active platforms

Added: The ability to switch to other players views

There have been a few renditions of a FloatingX for M1A1, but non of them looked like they belonged in the actual game of Marathon.

This version matches the interface of the real game, and has the same floaty goodness of FloatingX.

The screenshots are actually from Legend, and the version i captured is slightly out of date, so there may be some very very minor differences.

Finally, The Health and Oxygen bars are misaligned by one pixel... Because of this small margin, I cannot correct it. And yes, I have tried.

Marathon C: Version 7 Number 7

Axle_Gear on 09/05/2007

Screenshot titled "'Well-done'"

The game is still vastly incomplete, but the maps themselves should work just fine.

Things that are missing: -Logon/Logoff screens -Terminal pictures -A proper intro? (Considering making a neat little 'unplayable' level in the future to kick it off). -The rest of the levels

Things it DOES have: -5 playable maps, including the extra path for failing to be 'stealthy' in the first level. -Physics and terminal text for every map -Use of color tables left untouched in the orignal Marathon Infinity

With any luck, all you'll need to do to run the scenario is download the map, and use all the other standard shapes and images that come with MI, leaving the whole download at just a smidgen more than a megabyte.

If you download this, please try to break the levels in any way you can: grenade hop, launch yourself, take goofy paths, etc. And let me know if you find any bugs. I'm trying my best to make these very high-quality maps, since there are so few of them.

And another thing: I'm holding a little contest. Make a proper Marathon film, and try to beat 'Satellite of Love' as quickly as you can on Total Carnage (bonus points for playing through the first level to get there). I assure you, you'll be in for a challenge: I, the creator of the level, can barely beat it... sometimes. I hope some unfortunate players are prepared to bathe in grenades. :D

Enjoy!

This is a demo/proof of concept release for an OPEN-TO-EVERYONE COMMUNITY MAPPING PROJECT, Durandal Done Different. Inspired by community projects for Doom, such as Doom The Way Id Did, DDD is a celebration of the original game, its limitations, quirks and strengths.

The end goal of this project is to recreate, in the "style" of the original game, the entire 28-level campaign for Marathon 2. This isn't strictly speaking remakes of the original levels, but just a different interpretation of the writing and story beats as if it were 1995 all over again.

This 3-level demo features my replacements for Waterloo Waterpark, Slings and Arrows, and What About Bob. They're meant as a demonstration of the project's objective.

You are welcome to contribute! A direct link to the Discord for development of this project is in the text file of this download, or you can ask me for it on the main Marathon discord. Or you can just play the 3 maps included and wait patiently for the final release, sometime in the heavens...

Problem Pax 1.0

RyokoTK on 11/17/2009

A collaborative effort by myself, Treellama, Irons, W'rkncacnter, $lave, Screamingfool, and JUICEMAN.

Journey back in time through a whopping 60 maps as we present all of the bad maps we've made and discarded throughout the years.

Some of the maps are nearly tolerable, some are quirky and stupid, some are outright terrible, and some are deformed joke maps.

Please don't host these more than once. In fact, don't host these at all.

At long last, here is the continuation of my surrealist total conversion, "Spatial Outpouring", the first chapter of which was developed back in 2015-2016, and released in 2018.

I had the idea of creating a 'psychedelic' marathon scenario with a highly otherworldly plot, and heavy use of bright colors and fractals.

I also used synthesizers to create copious sound FX and ambiences for the game, and included an original song of mine in the title screen (this second chapter contains a different original song than was included with the first).

This second chapter was mostly developed years ago, but progress slowed to a halt for a long time, as I was frustrated trying to make the bizarre levels a playable experience.

Public appreciation for the 1st chapter has now led me to finish what I started, and here you have it - 3 new levels. I am pleased to say that at this point, this new material is truly the natural continuation to the original, and goes deeper into strangeness than ever before.

Mararthon: Yuge is a 30 level scenario, plus 225 secret levels for many extra hours of gameplay.

Yuge is a community project that was created in 2017 with procedural level generation using rooms that were mapped by hand. Mappers contributed rooms of various design and size, which were then fed into the level generator, which created the overall level layouts, texturing, monster placements, items, and sounds. Therefore, you will see some of the same rooms multiple times while playing through the scenario, but each will likely have a different set of monsters in slightly different locations, different textures, and you will likely have different weapons.

The level generator was created by W'rkncacnter, and 353 unique mapped out areas were contributed by several mappers: Windbreaker, RyokoTK, Sankara, W'rkncacnter, President People, $lave, General Tacticus, Glamdring, and Adminn_1.

Yuge has 2 new weapons, 2 new boss monsters, new wall textures, new scenery objects, maps with precipitation, and a new liquid type. Along with the procedurally generated levels, the final level of the main scenario, "enter the DOUCHE", is a custom map created by Windbreaker.

Like HD textures? Check out the Yuge Definition Textures plugins: http://simplici7y.com/items/yuge-definition-textures.

Keep and eye out for a URL within the secret levels where you can download even more bonus maps.

Henseler´s Hell a map by RealRainman

Henseler´s Hell is the first and only "Marathon map" I made back in 1997. I tried to develop a detailed storyline that, although based on the familiar "I guide you through the action" concept, comes up with surprising twists and a couple of neat tricks that pushes even the experienced player to his limits. I wanted to include a lot of cool graphics (watch out for the terminals !) , and the biggest battlebot that the "Marathon" world has ever seen (I guess) !

Believe me, I used ALL the polygons, objects and entities that are possible to use in "Forge".

Notes for version 02:

Sorry guys, forgot about the fact that I uploaded here! A nice guy by the name of Greg (somehow) got in contact with me and pointed out the missing terminal pics! The HENSELER´S HELL map-file must have been corrupted years ago by copying it to a PC-file server. I was able to retrieve the original map file and it has all the terminal artwork included (which is important at some point in the story, visual hints etc.). Have fun! cheers, RealRainman

I made a 3D edit to Pfhactory N’Utopia, ready to be used with Forge Plus and Unity.

5D space has been merged to make a normal space.

There is the main map and the 5D space bridge split into 3 map files.

The map files were edited with Pfhorte and forge in a Mac OS 9 emulator.

The zero length line error is fixed.

Forge plus is a map editor made with Unity and can export maps into 3D FBX files.

Export to FBX then open the FBX files in blender and put everything together.

When you put the bridge together, delete the mesh that is around it.

Screenshot titled "30° FOV on a 16:9 screen"

This HUD prevents landscape mirroring by letterboxing the 3D world view window. It automatically and dynamically resizes the view window whenever the resolution of the game window increases or decreases, whenever sniper mode is toggled on or off, whenever extravision is picked up or expires... In other words, whenever the FOV changes, no matter the cause (teleportation effect excluded).

Here's a little video showcasing how it works (16:9 screen, initially 90° FOV, then sniper mode is toggled on and then off).

It is based on Basic HUD by treellama, and has the same compatibilities as that HUD with regards to scenarios (for example, it is compatible with Marathon 2: Durandal, Marathon Infinity and Rubicon X, but not with Marathon).

Marathon OST 2021 1.4

ckt1138 on 03/14/2021

Screenshot titled ""

The entire Marathon OST meticulously restored with new instruments and better production value.

Unlike most M1 music replacers, this one does NOT try to heavily alter the original composition nor is it simply a sound font swap. I remixed everything inside of FL Studio 20 with high quality VST instruments and (occasionally) real hardware synths and sounds. My goal was to create a faithful reinterpretation of the OST with mostly appropriate sounds (nothing more modern than 1990's electronic instruments, etc) but with a better overall balance and less cheap sound. I'm extremely proud of the outcome, and I think fans of the original game and its score will really appreciate it too!

This download contains a FLAC and OGG version, to replace the in game music, simply drop the OGG files into the "Music" folder in your Marathon directory.

If Aleph One is ever updated to allow gapless looping of music, I will create a loopable mix.

(if you enjoyed this music, check out fragileforms.bandcamp.com , where I post my original music as MetaMorphosys)

Los Disneys

Spooky on 12/10/2019

Screenshot titled "The author."

Here it is as requested. Sanctioned CLIQUE upload.

J. Kristopher Huddy was spawned in a test tube at a military laboratory just outside of Fresno, California. He was the product of a top secret government effort to clone superhuman killing machines. However, just months after the creation of "ZSC-08390" (as Huddy was then referred to), the project was scrapped after military brass concluded the fusing together of DNA from Don Knots and that guy who played Klinger on MASH could serve no real purpose against the Solviet threat. Huddy was debriefed and sent on his way with only a suit, a wristwatch and $20 to his name. After blowing the $20 on bogus lottery tickets and pawning the watch for another $20 which was quickly lost on still more lottery tickets, Huddy realized he had a problem... he need more money to throw away on lottery tickets. But instead, he checked himself into the famous Betty Ford Clinic in a desperate attempt to overcome his gambling addiction. One year later, Huddy was clean and sober, though his gambling problem persisted, mainly due to the fact he had unwittingly spent the last year in a substance abuse program. Nevertheless, Huddy had a new lease on life and was determined to make a name for himself. Immediately, he applied for unemployment and tirelessly began watching soap operas. Tragically, when Huddy's lifelong dream of hanging out and doing "whatever" proved fruitless, he decided to devote himself to his second love of designing video games. A year later, his 8-bit opus "Los Disneys," was complete. Though the game earned him no money and little recognition, it did succeed in placing his name high atop the list of people Disney was least likely to employ. He then began work on a new game, Ghetto Blaster. But it was the horrific events of September 11th that put the project on hold. After he was denied admittance into the army after becoming the first person in the history of the U.S. military to be legally declared a coward, Huddy found his patriotic calling in the form of creating a second video game. Originally titled "Sophomore Slump," the new game was later renamed "Blood of Bin Laden." Huddy has since settled down and is currently employed at Utah's third largest fish-hatchery and spends much of his time rewriting Tom Clancy novels in calligraphy, jazzercising and speaking in a thick, albeit fake southern accent.

Marathon 1 Redux 0.0.13-alpha

liacrow on 07/30/2019

Screenshot titled "Reimagined architecture"

Weekly updates on Github: https://github.com/ravenshining/M1R

A project to give Marathon 1 a facelift, incorporating the new features of Aleph One to flesh out and add realism to the Marathon's architecture. Eventually, to include a branching storyline- possibly even missions on the colony moon.

Featuring Marathon 1 with lua scripting, liquids, ambient sound, new weapons, more scenery, improved sprites, expanded architecture, new terms & terminal art, and the latest HD plugins. Also including Craig Hardgrove's soundtrack, you can visit his page over at themarathonmusic.com !

At this point M1R should contain a complete, playable, almost bug-free recreation of M1, however, I still consider this an alpha as there are many more features and levels to come, and other features present that will be cut.

To contribute to this project, download it and read the "Help Wanted.txt" and/or TODO.txt," or head over to the Pfhorums where the lists and discussion are posted: http://pfhorums.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=53510

WINDOWS USERS PLEASE NOTE Marathon 1 Redux's extensive HD and 3D assets may cause 32-bit builds of Aleph One to crash immediately upon starting a game. To resolve this issue, you will have to experiment with turning off plugins or reducing texture replacement resolution to taste.

Notes for version 0.0.13-alpha:
  • Starting a new game now brings you directly to Arrival, rather than skipping though unfinished prologues
  • Currently unplayable levels are hidden from the level-select dialogue
  • Lua scripting is finding its way to several levels to control special events and functions
  • 3D models fixed so they no longer cause clipping & bloom problems, and distort less on pulsating textures
  • New texture variants, bringing the total number to 386! (including landscapes and animation frames)
  • Most levels updated to greater and lesser degrees to take advantage of the new textures
  • AI variant terminal textures applied to every terminal - e.g., a Leela terminal says LEELA on it in-world
  • Differentiated solid and liquid lava, and to a lesser degree, goo
  • New epilogue level (thanks to Pfhorrest for letting me re-use some Eternal geometry)
  • A new defensive twist to Pfhoraphobia to balance out its new Lua scripting
  • Updates to Arrival, The Rose, Welcome to the Revolution, Try Again, Beware of Low-Flying Defence Drones
  • The first Pfhor terminal
  • Pfhor fighter sprites optimised for bloom
  • Revised Vidmaster's Oath
  • Newly spawned players start with plot-appropriate weapons, at the expense of ammo
  • Low resolution fallback if you disable the 3072p landscape plugin
  • Lots of bugfixes in general, thank you to everyone who reported problems!
  • Much saner organisation overall
  • Probably more because it's been 9 months since 0.0.12!
