Scenario

Screenshot titled ""

Marathon® Infinity takes the closed universe of the Marathon series and blows it wide open. The solo/co-op campaign, “Blood Tides of Lh’owon,” is a 20-level scenario sporting new textures, weapons, and aliens. More than that, the scenario sheds a surprising new light on the story’s characters and the meaning of events. Having defeated the Pfhor and reawakened the ancient remnants of the S’pht, the player now faces a world where friends become enemies and all is not what it seems…

Marathon Infinity is the most popular Marathon game in online play, and is compatible with hundreds of community-made maps. This release includes the classic graphics, and revamped high-definition textures and weapons.

I’ve remastered the entire Marathon Infinity sounds file. The most obviously noticeable changes are that many sounds are much less distorted (with the side effect of being roughly half as loud as the originals – adjust your game/system volume as needed), and sounds will feature approximations of upper frequencies that were missing on the originals. Many sounds that were originally 8-bit (a good example is the “got item” sound) will also be much less noisy. Detailed information on the changes is included as a .pdf with the download.

This works with any Aleph One scenario that uses vanilla Infinity sounds. It also works with Marathon 2 on Aleph One - it probably won’t work with the vanilla Marathon 2 apps for either Windows or Mac. If you really need a version of these for vanilla Marathon 2, ask me nicely and I may consider making one (though because I’m in the process of remixing many of these directly from the CD-quality sources, I may not bother until I’m done with that).

Important: ALEPH ONE VERSIONS BEFORE 1.3.0 REQUIRE YOU TO RESTART THE GAME AFTER SELECTING THESE SOUNDS. (Bold and caps so you don’t miss it.) On the plus side, you’ll only have to do this once (unless you move back to the defaults for whatever reason). And you should really upgrade to 1.3.1 or 1.4pre2 – it’s generally a bad idea to run old software, and you can no longer even gather or join net games with releases prior to 1.3.0.

Notes for version 1.1:

Finally uploading a new version, primarily because I’d mixed up the “S’pht Door Closing” and “S’pht Door Opening” sounds. This is because the sounds file itself had them mixed up in the 8-bit sounds slot, which was what I was using to check that I’d uploaded the right versions of everything; and also because ShapeFusion also has them mixed up. (I’m supposing Anvil may also have mixed them up, but I haven’t checked.) In any case, the game seems to want them where the vanilla file has them in the 16-bit slots, so anyone else who wants to make new versions of the sounds should take note: The “S’pht Door Opening” and “S’pht Door Closing” sounds are mislabelled in ShapeFusion. (The mislabelling may also be true of the Pfhor Door sounds; I’d advise double-checking. However, I did not mix those up, because the 8-bit and 16-bit sounds for those are in the same slot.)

The other major change is that I have moved all of the sounds to the 8-bit slot rather than the 16-bit slot. These sounds are all 16-bit, but on the whole, the game doesn’t care one way or the other; it will still play them as 16-bit sounds. Note that, on old versions of Aleph One, you’ll need to restart the game after selecting these sounds. On the plus side, you will only need to do this once (unless you go back to the default sounds for whatever reason). This was due to a caching bug that was fixed in 1.3, so if you’re running an old version of Aleph One, you should upgrade to 1.3.1 or 1.4pre2. The advantage to moving them to the 8-bit slot is that if you accidentally select 8-bit sounds, you will no longer hear silence. Everything will sound really bad, but at least you’ll hear something!

(Note that I wrote the readme file to this version before the caching bug was fixed, so it won’t reflect that this step is no longer necessary in recent versions of Aleph One. I don’t feel it’s worth rereleasing the sounds purely to update the readme, particularly since I’ve by now remixed many of them directly from the CD-quality sources – expect a major new release sometime in 2021.)

I may also have revised a few of these sounds since 1.0. I didn’t keep detailed notes, so I have no idea what I changed.

Should you have any questions, you can contact me on the Pfhorums (same username as here), reddit (/u/aaronnotarobot), or Discord (Aaron#6608; you will need to be a member of the subreddit Discord – or some other Discord I’m in – to contact me). Enjoy!

The whole idea of this script is Surivive Longer = Less Ammo = Killing Gets Harder

Also Included: Rocket Arena where you only have rockets so that you can make someone pay

Note: This script has a side effect of being invulnerable to monster attacks

Marathon Gambit 1.1

Aurora on 11/11/2019

Screenshot titled "Zoranel_2"

Marathon Gambit

What is it?

Marathon Gambit is a recreation of Bungie's Destiny 2 gametype of the same name

How do I play?

The objective of Gambit is to kill things, collect the keys they drop, and turn in the keys to summon a final Boss. The first team to summon its boss and kill it wins the round. (a pdf is included that explains this more in depth)

What is included?

The download includes the following

  • Netscript
  • 3 Netmaps.
  • MML and phyA files for merging with your own maps.
  • A pdf manual that explains how to play and what is required for making your own maps.

Included Maps

Zoranel: This map was created for testing purposes and is not the prettiest, but i feel it was fun to play on so I'm including it. It is the largest map in this pack currently.

Wrath Eternal: This is a modification of the Bungie netmap "Wrath No More?" to support Gambit. It is the smallest map in the pack and can get very hectic!

Salinn: This is a modification of one of my own netmaps to support Gambit. In terms of size this map is somewhere between Wrath Eternal and Zoranel

Future Updates

The main feature I am looking into adding is an intro cinematic. Other than that all currently planned features are present, so updates will be limited to bug fixes or adding new netmaps

Feedback and Bugs can be reported on the pfhorums thread here

This is a small, symmetrical netmap supporting emfh, koth, ktmwtb and survival. It has been merged with Hopper's Aleph One Previous AI to prevent monsters from freezing up, so the plugin won't be necessary for this map. It's recommended for two-player sized netgames, but three might work aswell.

This mod drastically changes the gameplay of Marathon!

Combat is much more fierce. This is like Marathon on steroids. Experience it for yourself.

*This mod establishes a new oxygen system: - You start with 2 minutes worth of oxygen (average human breath time.) -When you go into an environment in which you cannot breathe, you will start holding your breath. Be careful you don't black out! Holding your breath for too long makes you delirious, you know. - Luckily, if you make it to air in time, you can catch your breath and get those 2 minutes of air back. - Oxygen tanks now add tank oxygen to your total air capacity. When your tanks run out, you start holding your breath.

  • It is also possible to become delirious from being in a near death state.

  • Monsters and weapons are now more accurate and lethal, and travel at high speeds much closer to reality.

  • Physics are changed, especially gravity, which is more realistically amplified from the low-grav Marathon stock physics. NOTE: this may make some jumping puzzles unsolvable. Gravity has been changed to closely match that of Earth (on standard gravity maps).

Notes for version 1.0:

This can certainly be improved upon, but for now, it's stable and it works.

This solo Lua script makes you, the player, more vocal.

At any time, you can press the "~" key to speak some chatter.

You will also yell at friends who accidentally hurt you, and grunt when you experience pain.

You may also find yourself apologizing for friendly fire, and taunting enemies you kill.

BUT... There is one big twist... You may attract unwanted attention with your newfound voice...

Notes for version 1.0:

This will probably be the only release of this that I do. This mod can get annoying...

This is a project that a group of map makers have been working on for a while. It is a fitting tribute to the Marathon community and its players. Huge thanks to Aaron, aka The Man, and Spooky for helping me with item placement and the making of special maps. These maps are each made for specific people in mind, and are named after who they were designed for. This is a 12 level net map pack meant for 8 players. The maps are for Wrkncacnter, asdkzx123, windbreaker, slyfennecfox, fenrick, Captain Jteg, raptor200221, Spooky, Aaron, Adminn_1, EDDIE DINGLE, and Zuranthus.

Screenshot titled "L02. The Toadal Number of Coats"

Spatial Outpouring is a surrealist total conversion I created since finishing Lost Lands. I had grown to feel that Lost Lands was too old and sloppy a project to represent my current abilities.

I had the idea of creating a 'psychedelic' marathon scenario with a highly otherworldly plot, and heavy use of bright colors and fractals.

I also used synthesizers to create copious sound FX and ambiences for the game, and included an original song of mine in the title screen.

I created a new monster, a new weapon, and changed a lot of the weapon functions and physics to make gameplay feel fresh.

This version has 8 levels (one of them is a secret). I may or may not find the time to finish more of the game in the future.

Notes for version 1.3:

Player returns to main menu after Chapter 1 ends, rather than to an incomplete 9th level.

Damage Incorporated is owned solely by Paranoid Productions. No copyright infringement was intended.

Notes for version 0.1:

-This project will grow over time to things bigger than just weapons. The biggest in scope would basically be a port of Damaged Incorporated to Aleph One (not happening in the slightest, btw). Expect updates.

-No HUD icons yet. Some weapons and items are redundant

-Just a shapes file for now, learning how to patch and plugin

This is a little map-pack I made to show what I'm capable of doing. It's not masterpieces but I'm pretty proud of my work.

It contains 4 maps and a shapes file which replaces the Sewage set. The maps are:

Horrible Horrid Environment And Demise (Negative at first yes)

Just keep yourself wise with the rating. This is a beginner's set.

This is a simple physics file that uses a modified version of the physics file found merged into the level "You Think You're Big Time? You're Gonna Die Big Time!". This "project" initially began as a way to humor myself but I found out that it is actually lots of fun to play around with using the Survival game type, so I began trimming stats until I was happy with the difficulty.

For the most part, all you need to know is-

Most enemies are now completely gray, good luck guessing rank between fighters! Major troopers and major hunters now drop x1 HP powerups Slight increase in enemy vitality across the board Slight increase in enemy projectile speed across the board Fighters move very quickly, troopers are more grenade happy, hunter projectiles now track their target (just like in YTYBT?YGDBT!)

This is a proper AlephOne port of the old Erodrome scenario for Marathon Infinity.

Replaces the old flamethrower projectile animation with prettier flame. Works best with bloom enabled.

Added 7 additional frames, so this uses a shapes patch to append some bitmaps and frames to the explosions collection.

For added fun, make some custom physics with a slower, wandering flamethrower burst. Also cut down the firing sequence on anything using a flamethrower to one tick.
