The President's Eternal Shapes

This is an edited Eternal X v110b3 Shapes file. It replaces some of the Marine bitmaps with new ones that match the weapon being held.

Notes for version 3.0:
  • Messed with some color tables in EVIL to get the Marine's Pfhor Staff graphics, and also a less pixellated version of the weapon's item graphic.

  • Replaced the Havoc Rifle's grenade clip item with a cleaner version.

  • Both the Napalm Canister's and the Pistol Clip's bitmaps have smoother ones in their place, though I don't think they were used.

  • Added 3 new bitmaps to the Nightmare sequences. It can now appear diagonally from behind.

  • Changed the colors of the Pfhor Staff water scenery item to match the monster's theme. I'm not sure if this was used in the game, though.

  • Experimental. Changed the color of one of the alien scenery lamps (The one that looks like a staff crystal) to match the Pfhor Staff's. NOTE: Two files are included in this folder. The one marked with a * contains the latter changes. Try them both and see what you think.

M1A1 HardCore Sounds

President People on Sep 29th 2011

Hardcore_sounds_icon

These Sounds files were third-party replacements for the original M1.

The original files were created by The Legendary Frank. I have converted them to Aleph One format for use with M1A1.

The first one is the latest version. The second was included with the M1 Demo v0.0 on my old Mac Cube. Also included are the original M1 files.

Simply place this folder within your scenario folder or Aleph One directory, select either file in your Environment Preferences, Begin New Game, strap in and brace for impact! Enjoy!

From the manual for the latest version, written by The Legendary Frank:

"Enclosed is a file called HardCoreSounds. It's an alternate sound file for Marathon 1 that, once you change it's name to Sounds and start up Marathon will rip your ears off and give you a week long nose bleed. (Well hopefully not -- I don't need to get sued.) But, sufice to say, this is THE sound file to turn Marathon 1 into non stop extravganza of butchery and carnage the the game is supposed to be. So, turn off the lights, strap on some headphones and then try to stop your knees from knocking as you go 'Damn! That'll hurt bad!'

IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not use if you can't stand cuss words, loud noises, or anything that would offend normal people. These sounds ain't PC or nice. No Cub Scouts or PTA moms.

Any flak, jizz or miscellaneous comments can be sent to: [email protected]

Enjoy, kiddies,

FRANK"

New Interface (MaraMag March '95) 1.0

President People on Jul 21st 2012

Maramag_march__95_new_interface

Another Marathon-Style HUD plugin based on Hopper's Marathon Classic HUD.

This one comes courtesy of Hopper, who sent me the March 1995 issue of MaraMag, included on the second disc of the Marathon Trilogy Box Set.

The plugin is almost exactly like the Marathon Classic HUD, save for the background image, which was made by... a guy named ture. The full email address given in the article is:

Pfhor Textures Remix 2.0

President People on Aug 4th 2012

This plugin replaces all Pfhor textures with a combination of the Marathon 2 and Infinity versions into single textures. The result maintains Marathon 2's bright colors, and adds many details from the Infinity textures.

The plugin will work with either Marathon 2 or Marathon Infinity Shapes (or any scenario that leaves the Pfhor texture set unmodified).

Questions, comments, bugs? Post on the Pfhorums.

Notes for version 2.0:

Version 1.0: Initial Release

Version 2.0: Plugin expanded to replace the entire Pfhor texture set, various improvements throughout the pre-existing textures.

Radiance Shapes 1.0

President People on Jun 29th 2011

These Shapes files are for use with Marathon 2: Durandal or Marathon Infinity, and are edited to make certain bitmaps glow. Muzzle flashes, explosions, projectiles, monsters, scenery lights, and liquid splashes will now glow. Both Shapes files will work with either Scenario. OpenGL (Shader) is required to experience the full effect.

Comes in both Infinity and M2 textures!

Instructions:

  1. Place the Radiance Shapes folder within your Aleph One directory.

  2. Select either Radiance Shapes file in your Environment Preferences.

  3. Make sure you are using the OpenGL (Shader) Renderer, and that Bloom Effects are turned on in the Graphics Preferences.

Eventually, I'd like to make this into a Plugin.

Notes for version 1.0:

Initial Release. These were named the Extra Bloom Shapes at one time. Nothing's really changed about them except the name since then.

[XL] Psychomanteus 2.0

President People on Feb 27th 2010

Psychomanteus_m2_textures

An underwater map built in and around a scaled-up generator.

You'll need to do some swimming here; set your run key to something easy to reach if you haven't already.

Psycho Physics file:

*Movement is quicker underwater.

*All weapons fire underwater.

*Fusion Pistol fires safely underwater.

---NEW---

*All shots, including monsters' shots, will now fire underwater.

*The S'pht will not float to the top of the map. Instead, their "jump" height is left at it's highest.

The latter additions were made to make Psychomanteus more compatible with the Survival.Lua script. Enjoy.

Notes for version 2.0:

Weapons and Ammo. Okay, this time I really ramped up the numbers.

Made more items floaty.

Physics no longer merged; I think there was an error with Atque.

[S] Electric Sheep Infinity 2.2

President People on Dec 21st 2009

Electric_sheep__m__

A map built from the Electric Sheep trilogy in Marathon Infinity.

It comes with it's own unmerged physics file. The Enforcer will ignore you unless you unless you make him berserk.

The aliens are really just for fun. After being tested in netplay, the ticks only got in the way.

*All lava floors teleport!

Notes for version 2.2:

Hopefully the last update?

Fixed a bug with the main platform on the right; It's minimum height was set higher than the max height by accident. It will now fall to the proper negative height.

The SPNKR doesn't seem to be rotating, though.

What am I doing Avoidence

President People on Apr 26th 2013, Version 1.0

Before I even start moving, the Drones start buzzing around and spill onto the path, blocking my way and sticking me in place so they can taze me to death.

I'm assuming this is because I "let my gaze fall upon them", but this is unavoidable because I start facing to the side(!) and there are Drones in view.

Despite the name, the monsters cannot be avoided because the path is narrow, and the Drones are fat. I feel like there's a Physics file missing here?

2 Stars for an interesting idea, I guess, but it's not very fun in its current state. I'd be willing to Try Again if it was playable.

Most Excellent Weapons In Hand - Muzzle Flash and Motion Blur

President People on Jul 8th 2011, Version 1.0

I switched to these from the Weapon Enhancement Pack weapons. The change back to the pixellated sprites was a bit weird, but the superior muzzle flashes were worth it.

The screenshots pretty much say anything else that needs to be said. :P

Pretty Good kataHUD

President People on Jan 11th 2011, Version 2.1

A neat combination of the classic HUD and floating X. The full netstats and ammuntion display is enough to make me switch from the classic HUD.

The Weapons Manifest is a bit messy in some spots, and I ask that you make the box displaying the player's name a bit longer, and make the radar more like the classic radar, or have it darken on the edges or something.

Not playable on _every_ map Survival.lua

President People on Jul 2nd 2010, Version 5

You say this script is playable on any map, but maps without a hill just keep restarting the break counter.

The fusion bolt is cool though. The fusion bolt will also glow with my Extra Bloom Shapes on the Pfhorums.

This script is awesome Survival.lua

President People on Apr 9th 2010, Version 4

More carnage and more fun than co-op, all in a quick netgame.

One weird bug. I noticed an object thingy present way out in the distance. Does not interrupt gameplay as far as I know, so you should keep it. :)

The future of Marathon gaming. This is truly the ultimate network gametype. The graphics, the sounds... Words escape me. I am looking forward to more great scripts like this in the future.

Hmm... Survival.lua

President People on Feb 13th 2010, Version 3

Monsters still spawn in inaccessible areas, though not as often.

Careful, mappers Survival.lua

President People on Feb 10th 2010, Version 2

I tested the new version on Harmonium. The monsters often would spawn in the unreachable cliff scenery. However, I don't think this is the script's fault. If you stand close to the window, the monsters will see you and walk through the window into the playing area. I've had trouble like this with windows before.

I think this might be a matter of the lines being solid on both sides of the window.

Mappers will need to take extra care with unreachable scenery.

Awesome Survival.lua

President People on Feb 10th 2010, Version 1.0

I had trouble on maps with sections unreachable by the player; monsters would spawn there, rendering the game unfinishable, so watch out what maps you host!

I bet this script would be fun with Rambo XXXIII physics from the Anvil sample models.

EDIT: For the physics above to be most effective, the map hosted should have pistols.

A Suggestion Damage

President People on Jan 5th 2010, Version 1.0

Perhaps players using a powerup (Invincibility, Infravision, etc.) should get less points, and killing a person with a powerup gives more points.
