liacrow on May 18th 2018

Biggergunsnearby_0036

Latest releases now on Github: https://github.com/ravenshining/M1R

A project to give Marathon 1 a facelift, incorporating the new features of Aleph One to flesh out and add realism to the Marathon's architecture. Eventually, to include a branching storyline- possibly even missions on the colony moon.

Featuring Marathon 1 with liquids, ambient sound, new weapons, more scenery, improved sprites, expanded architecture, new terms & terminal art, the latest HD plugins. Also including Craig Hardgrove's soundtrack, you can visit his page over at themarathonmusic.com !

This is an Alpha release for development purposes. To contribute to this project, download it and read the "Help Wanted.txt" and/or TODO.txt," or head over to the Pfhorums where the lists and discussion are posted: http://pfhorums.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=53510

If you are wanting a playable scenario, you'll have to wait for the beta version 0.1.0.

Notes for version 0.0.9-alpha:

Getting ready for beta! As such, far more work has been done on the assets than on level design, although I did some work on Arrival.

12 levels included & converted to Redux format - prologue through G4. Since they are lacking in polish, the opening "level" offers two terminals, one to take you straight to the more finished areas and another to take you through the rest)

All monsters should be good except the human soldiers, who have sequences but still need offsets in their low-level shapes, and the Hound, which someone else is working on.

All human scenery that have 3D models have been given 8-way sprites as a fallback due to an Aleph One bug.

Title screen backgrounds created from Marathon box art. Two new chapter screens mocked up. Two more MIDA textures. Tycho term logon on Defend THIS! Symbolic Interactionism terminal art. SMG now fires 6 grenades for balance. Alien rifle renamed alien SMG. Invisible oxygen ticks added to Arrival hangar and Cool Fusion vacuum chamber. Tacticus rendered an Alien weapon detonation effect, major fusion bolt sprite, and major fusion bold detonation effect. Glowmap added to the firey wall textures. Term art tweaks. Removed the annoying slidey switch animation.

Spatial Outpouring - Chapter 1 1.3

Mazaro on May 9th 2018

4

Spatial Outpouring is a surrealist total conversion I created since finishing Lost Lands. I had grown to feel that Lost Lands was too old and sloppy a project to represent my current abilities.

I had the idea of creating a 'psychedelic' marathon scenario with a highly otherworldly plot, and heavy use of bright colors and fractals.

I also used synthesizers to create copious sound FX and ambiences for the game, and included an original song of mine in the title screen.

I created a new monster, a new weapon, and changed a lot of the weapon functions and physics to make gameplay feel fresh.

This version has 8 levels (one of them is a secret). I may or may not find the time to finish more of the game in the future.

Notes for version 1.3:

Player returns to main menu after Chapter 1 ends, rather than to an incomplete 9th level.

Kill Bob LeVitus Marathon 1.0

eisnerguy1 on Apr 17th 2018

Whataboutbob_0007

At MacWorld 1996, Power Computing (a popular Macintosh clone manufacturer in the mid-1990’s) released a CD-ROM called “PowerComputing The Disc 2”.

This contained a special demo of Marathon 2. Instead of the normal sprites for Bob, there was instead special sprites of the Director of Evangelism of Power Computing, Bob LeVitus. Also included with the demo was a Shapes file that could be used with the full version of the game.

I was surprised that this wasn't already ported to Aleph One so, I've rectified that.

Wrk Maps 1.0

W'rkncacnter on Apr 1st 2018

Maps

Wrk Maps is a net pack for infinity consisting of levels from Infinity, M2, and others that have been modified, usually for better flow, or to look prettier. Along with Infinity and M2, maps are based on other maps by windbreaker, RyokoTK, Treellama, irons, and $lave.

There may even be a new unreleased map somewhere in here by someone other than me.

Differential Shading Checker Plugin 1.0

W'rkncacnter on Feb 15th 2018

Prahblumdetected

An alephone plugin that can be used to help you determine if your map has enough differential shading. It will turn all of the floors, ceilings, and walls solid green. If you do not have enough differential shading, it will be difficult or impossible to look around and see the architecture of your map.

If after turning this plugin on, you can navigate your level easily and see all of the architecture, your map has adequate differential shading.

You will likely need to disable other texture plugins and any others that run lua like visual mode when using this plugin.

Thrudnesday -1

drictelt on Feb 5th 2018

This map was made for Marathon Shadow, long dead. It was textured in a prototype of a texture set that never saw the daylight; hence, it needs a total repaving (however the lighting may be ok). There are no monsters.

It is, in other words, wholly unfinished. But it is architecturally the best map I ever made. I release it under GPL and creative commons and what not.

Notes for version -1:

It is not finished.

Narcotics 0

drictelt on Feb 5th 2018

A two-level mini-scenario consisting of maps that were intended to become part of Marathon Syndicate, itself a project building on Marathon Rubicon.

Maps are by myself. Project Syndicate was by Cryos, Drictelt, effigy, Goran, Lhowon and John Doe; the maps rely on some textures and a terminal picture by others in the team.
