Superscalar 1.0

timothy on 02/18/2009

Screenshot titled "In this example, I won by targeting effigy, who was easier to kill. Had we been using Superscalar, effigy would have been doing 300% damage to me by the end of the game, while taking only 33% of the normal damage."

Superscalar is designed to level the playing field, giving inexperienced players an advantage while increasing the difficulty for regular players. No more will you have to hold back or intentionally miss when playing guests.

The script determines the difference in score between each player, and adjusts the amount of damage they inflict on each other accordingly. The player in the lead will do less damage per shot, while the other one does more.

The damage scale is calculated per player, so equally skilled players should generally do equal damage. Damage scales quickly as the point difference increases. This can be modified as needed by editing the scale numbers at the top of the script.

Host using one of the standard gametypes like Every Man for Himself or King of the Hill. Do not host using the Netscript gametype.

Bonus: I've included Host_Advantage.lua in the package. I attribute all of my success last year to this script, but now that I can't really host anymore there's no point in keeping all the fun to myself.

Captures 1.0

W'rkncacnter on 02/17/2009

This is a map with embedded shapes and lua. There are 7 "hills" on the map, and each player or team will get a point for every hill they have control of at the end of a round. The lua HUD makes it easy to tell how much time is left in the round.

This map should be played with the netscript gametype as it has embedded lua.

Victory Dance III 1.0

RyokoTK on 06/02/2007

Screenshot titled ""

This is the resulting netpack of the third Netmap-making contest. The top seven mappers out of a total group of nine made it into this pack, which I can easily say is the best Victory Dance pack so far.

The winners include screamingfool, Treellama, and irons, though the pack has 7 maps from 7 different mappers in all.

Originally released in 2002, "Xariim" is my solo scenario for Marathon Rubicon. 14 solo levels, one solo carnage level, three Read Me's. The (positive) review on archives.bungie.org is still up - read it if you want.

Tested with Rubicon X and Aleph One 1.2.1. Select the scenario file under Environment.

ADRESSING THE 2/5 REVIEW BELOW: Yes, it is true that this release has issues. While I don't know what the reviewer is refering to with Ataraxia being "unbeatable" (I just played through the entire package), it is true that a switch in "Closed Quarters BOB Combat" should actually be a destructable surface. As a result you can block your own progress by hitting the "switch" again. There are more similar bugs in later levels. There are other minor problems too, like some polys not having ambient sounds. That all being said, I can assure the reviewer that Rubicon Xariim was tested a lot, by me, Jane Davison and partially Christopher Lund. John Sumner vidmastered the whole thing, so you can watch him beat the Ataraxia level. The reason why these issues never got fixed is that I released the package in 2002 when I finished school. After that I was off doing the mandatory military service in Germany, so not much mapmaking going on during that time.

Has embedded MML/Lua for Quake-style health kits.

Sovereignty 1.2

windbreaker on 01/26/2008

Screenshot titled "All Along the Watchtower"

Sovereignty is my first netpack now containing 8 maps. I first released this netpack in April, 2007. I am pleased with the outcome and quality; even for the older maps.

In this final update (v1.2), I have added 1 new map, and fixed a blatant ambient sound error in The King of Infinite Space. I also managed to fix a terrible error in 50% of the maps, where the players would only spawn in one or two places throughout an entire game.

NOTE: For best results, don't use the hi-res textures.

This modifcation of Dave Baily's map is my first attempt at CTF. For some reason some people like it though personally I'd choose CCR2 (part of Magenta Filter 1.3) This version works with CTF lua 4.0.2 so you guys can stop bugging me to email you maps. ;) The readme goes in to further detail.

Back in March, Irons re-discovered a contest for 7-polygon maps, also known as "Simplici7y" maps. I was intrigued by the concept, and drew some sketches that turned into these seven levels. Despite making Marathon maps for nearly the last fifteen years, this is the first Infinity map I've officially released. I chose to follow the restrictions imposed by the original contest.

Notes for version 1.0:

This is the first official release. All maps and gametypes have been tested for functionality and balance.

Detailed instructions on how to get it working can be found in the included ReadMe file.

This was made possible thanks to the combined efforts of Treellama and thedoctor45.

Hope you enjoy.

lolplugins 1.2

W'rkncacnter on 08/06/2018

A set of Weland plugins.

NOTE: If these aren't showing up in your list of plugins, you may have to compile them yourself.

Includes a plugin for: * Completely texturing levels from scratch * Generating stairs * Resizing maps * Bulk modifying monster flags for a level. * Adding annotations to maps with random complaints from DADDY_Z3RO * A re-release of VISUAL MODE so all of my plugins are together.

The source code is available for all of the plugins.

Notes for version 1.2:

Added "Alter Monster Falgs" plugin.

Colony Mod 1.3.1

skraeling on 12/28/2015

Screenshot titled ""

This is 1 single player map. It was supposed to be part of a 3 map intro to an 11 map campaign that started a year ago. I'm hoping to get the next two maps added over the next month. Doubt I'll ever find the time to create the full campaign.

New physics file, new shapes file, and the merged map file are included in the download.

Physics of monsters has been modified so they act a little different.

The behavior of every gun has been modified. No assault rifle.

No new art.

If you're getting frustrated or just want to goof around, there's a secret door right at the start which leads to a Cheat Room containing all the guns and a recharger.

Notes for version 1.3.1:

-Added 3rd level

-Changed shotgun behavior

-Added terminal explaining new pistol behavior to 1st level, also added ammo

-Added sounds to 2nd level

-Included physics and shapes file, along with infinity's original music and sound files

-12/28/15: made a change so that you actually transport to level 3 after level 2

Screenshot titled "Yup, another HUD"

Another Marathon-Style HUD plugin based on Hopper's Marathon Classic HUD.

This one comes courtesy of Hopper, who sent me the March 1995 issue of MaraMag, included on the second disc of the Marathon Trilogy Box Set.

The plugin is almost exactly like the Marathon Classic HUD, save for the background image, which was made by... a guy named ture. The full email address given in the article is:

Initial Release

2,525 downloads, 3 reviews, 1 screenshot, 4.0 rating

These Shapes files are for use with Marathon 2: Durandal or Marathon Infinity, and are edited to make certain bitmaps glow. Muzzle flashes, explosions, projectiles, monsters, scenery lights, and liquid splashes will now glow. Both Shapes files will work with either Scenario. OpenGL (Shader) is required to experience the full effect.

Comes in both Infinity and M2 textures!

Instructions:

  1. Place the Radiance Shapes folder within your Aleph One directory.

  2. Select either Radiance Shapes file in your Environment Preferences.

  3. Make sure you are using the OpenGL (Shader) Renderer, and that Bloom Effects are turned on in the Graphics Preferences.

Eventually, I'd like to make this into a Plugin.

Notes for version 1.0:

Initial Release. These were named the Extra Bloom Shapes at one time. Nothing's really changed about them except the name since then.
